Manny Ramirez is one of the greatest hitters of all time -- and he is also kind of a nut. He was probably the kind of kid who just laughed when Mom yelled that she was calling him for the last time.
But how much nuttier are the fans and sports writers who act all astonished that greatness and nuttiness could possibly come in the same package? Don't newspapers keep morgues no more?
As for Manny, despite his many pains and personal problems, he's still a guy who will scare the bejesus out of any pitcher who has to face him in a tight spot, and that's a good skill this time of year. So --
